The Role – Community Driver - Permanent

We have great opportunities at our depot in Bristol for community bus drivers who are smart, reliable and punctual and who can wow our customers and help keep the wheels turning. Our experienced team of support staff and managers will guide you through your career, providing support, training and development to help you reach your potential. 

Bristol Community Transport (BCTConnect) provides transport services for older and disabled people who have difficulty using public transport.  We are committed to improving the social impact of our services, by reducing social isolation and loneliness among our service users, enabling them to attend events or participate in activities as well as access essential services. We also provide minibus hire for not-for-profit organisations, such as charities and community groups.

 

Pay and Benefits 

 

Attracting a salary of £9.63 per hour, with benefits including 22 days annual leave , 2 additional days leave over the Festive season plus bank holidays pro rata, 4 x DIS Benefit, Mental Health Wellbeing Support and continued professional development.

About You 

The successful candidate will require: 

  • That you hold a D1 category license
  • Have held UK manual car licence (preferably no points) for a minimum of 2 years and have significant driving experience
  • Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals including adults with health conditions e.g. hearing loss, dementia
  • Excellent customer service skills

 

Your Responsibilities 

Duties and responsibilities will focus on the passenger experience

  • Assisting passengers on and off vehicles safely, including securing wheelchairs, scooters and other mobility aids
  • The planning of a route between each delivery and collection to meet the pre-determined delivery times allocated
  • Ensuring that the vehicle is clean (externally and internally), fuelled, the seating configuration is fit for purpose
  • Completing the relevant vehicle safety, mechanical and equipment checks prior to the vehicle leaving the depot.
